There is nothing quite so disappointing as a blog languishing in disuse. So for now, I will update those that read my blog regularly.

I continue working on short fiction for a planned book of short stories that I decided on this past New Year’s. I had planned to try to publish it by the end of this year. And being that there is a month left, I don’t see that particular goal being successful. A lot of the stories I have shared here on my blog as a sort of test bubble for readers. And to this point, the comments have been positive. Only thing left to do is finish the stories (I’m thinking about 12 of them) and hopefully find a publisher. If not, then self-publishing might be the only option.

Also, I have begun thinking of another book project. I realize the folly of this given I’ve not finished the previous project, but I can’t help but look ahead. I plan to write a history/biography of 3 local musical artist whom I feel deserve a book/acknowledgment: Los Exitos de Joe Alaniz, Pio Treviño y Grupo Majic, and Laura Canales.

At the moment it seems a daunting task, but one that I’m familiar with enough to handle. And I have access to most of the people involved. Sadly, both Laura Canales and Pablo Garcia, vocalist for Los Exitos, have  passed away.  I feel it my duty to write their stories as best I can. I have wanted to do this for some time but I now feel capable of the task. And in any case, they’re not getting any younger! Their story must be told and available to the wider public.

I will provide further updates as they become available.  For now, I suggest that readers offer more comments on my work.  The more detailed they are the better as I can build on those comments and better myself in my writing endeavors.  Thanks again for your readership (whomever you may be).

Winning By Losing: 4 Stories About Writing

This blog has been an epiphany!  Not only for the writing, activism, and autodidactic nature, but in the attitude BCP projects.  He is truly an inspiration to me in my writing endeavors.  I have learned so much in the hour or so I’ve spent perusing the Black Coffee Poet blog.  This is a testament to dedication and perseverance to something loved.

Many thanks Jorge!

First Words Since

This is the first post on my WordPress blog!  I am very excited to begin this new chapter in my blogging life.  When I first began, I considered the act of blogging as an exercise in personal catharsis.  That is to say, a platform to express that which I would not want to bother my friends with.  I began to fulfill my love and passion for writing blogs on MySpace a number of years ago and from there it progressed into a more serious effort when I began Dialecticsoup over at blogspot.com.  That effort further blossomed into another blog called Thought and Catharsis, also on blogspot.com.  At the time, it seemed appropriate to bifurcate the content into two blogs, generally speaking, one for my “serious” writing about news and current events around me and another for my “fiction/poetry” writing.  At this point, it seems wholly unnecessary to continue that blogging method.  So I have decided to incorporate the content of both those blogs into a single one.

This post represents my first words since that time.  I have a number of blogs that I enjoy reading, many of which are affiliated with WordPress. com.  It seemed to me the right move but I am a grand procrastinator and so it has taken me until today to make the move.  The heart of this blog, however, remains the same: A platform to express that which I would not bother my friends with.  And so it is with immense delight that I welcome you to this blog.  I highly appreciate your readership.  And please feel free to comment…yes, you should feel that freedom!
